What got you here?

Prior to starting Powerlifting I competed in bodybuilding/ fitness modeling competitions. I had just finished my 8th show and wanted to take an off-season but still have a goal to work towards. I already enjoyed lifting heavy so I decided to join PTC South Melbourne with a goal to compete in my first powerlifting competition.

Why did you stay?

Because I’m still learning and getting stronger. Alex and Andrew are very knowledgeable coaches and always helping me fix my technique. I also love coming to the gym to see everyone and be surrounded by like-minded people who motivate and support me. It’s a great team to be apart of.

Why do you lift?

I lift because I enjoy a challenge. I love setting new goals and pushing my body to achieve them. I love the way lifting has transformed my body and the way it makes me feel.

“Everyone starts somewhere, don’t be afraid to try. Find yourself a knowledgeable coach and girls don’t be afraid to lift heavy – It won’t make you bulky. “

Where did you start and where are you now?

I have almost been Powerlifting for a year now. In that time I have competed in 1 novice  and 2 sanctioned meets as well as competing at Pro Raw 9. I also broke the junior squat record in my weight class and I’ve qualified for Nationals at the end of July.

I came to PTC South Melbourne with a 120kg squat, 60kg bench and 150kg deadlift and I can now squat 177.5kg, bench 92.5kg and deadlift 165kg

What about your goals?

I am aiming to hit a 450kg total at nationals in July. I want to squat 200kg by the end of the year and re hold the junior squat record.
