What got you here?

I didn’t really know the first place to look after leaving my old gym. I googled which gyms were closest and PTC was going to be my starting point. I came in and spoke to coach Alex and after that I didn’t feel I needed to look anywhere else, as it was obvious how passionate and knowledgeable he was about lifting and it seemed like the perfect fit. And I was right!

Why did you stay?

I started powerlifting because another good friend who is also a coach told me i should try it out.

Why do you lift?

I lift cos it’s fun to see how much I can push my limits. I never thought it would be possible to hit the numbers I already have. Then added to that it became a community and social place for me to be. I have made some great friends and it also helps me de-stress after work.

Where did you start and where are you now?

I had a reasonable amount of strength when I first started at another gym, that stalled and the pbs stopped. When I came to PTC with Alex as my coach I was able to PB in every lift, add to my total, and come third at nationals in 2019.

What about your goals?

My goals change, but I am looking forward to turning 40 and being in the masters catergory and hopefully getting some masters records. But at the end of the day, to get stronger and stay fit.
