Lifter

29 years old | Carpenter | Melbourne
What got you here?

I made a bet with a friend that if both did a powerlifting comp that he would beat me. (I won)

Why did you stay?

My first meet was a novice comp at PTC South Melbourne and there was just something about the members. So eventually I became a member and it’s like everyone has been hand picked to be allowed to train here but they haven’t they are just good people who somehow have all come to the same place.

Why do you lift?

I actually just love it! It gives me structure, purpose, something to keep me focused and on the right track that no one can take away from me.

Where did you start and where are you now?

I started with traditional weight training and with the intent to compete in body building but it didn’t work out the way I wanted and I somehow fell into powerlifting. I’m very grateful that I did because I’m stronger and healthier than ever. Before joining PTC South Melbourne I rarely hit above 200kg in squat and dead but now I can lift over 200kg weekly.

What about your goals?

To compete at the GPC Melbourne Cup and come away with a 700kg + total
To squat and deadlift 300+
To qualify for 2018 nationals
One day to be invited to compete at Prow Raw Powerlifting at Arnold’s Classic Australia
